Kindergarten

Early Impressions' curriculum is designed to allow each child to reach her highest potential. We strive to develop success in all areas ... intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially. We offer quality education for your child in a warm and structured environment. We supplement our traditional educational curriculum with individualized learning programs and hands-on activities, while developing your child's character, concentration, socialization and work habits. Early Impressions' Kindergarten program prepares your child for success in First Grade and beyond.

Early Impressions curriculum starts with readiness levels in reading and mathematics and proceeds to the next level when the child is ready. We evaluate each child and place him appropriately at his own level. Individual instruction and activities provide each child with a sense of accomplishment to experience continuous growth.

Social studies, geography and science take the form of discussion, observation, listening, experimenting, field trips and art work. We often integrate art into our science, geography and social studies units for a complete learning experience. We encourage each child to contribute to class discussions, to conduct or assist with experiments, or to use multiple creative mediums in their projects.

Early Impressions develops and reinforces strong oral and written language skills. Our instructors continuously expose children to an expanded vocabulary and the grammatical pattern of our language. Spelling and sentence structure develop along with increased reading ability. We teach the children to form the letters D'Nealian style because this method is recommended to make the transition from printing to cursive writing easier for children.

Early Impressions' core curriculum also includes character development, art appreciation, basic computer skills, language arts, and cultural literacy. Specialty teachers provide weekly instruction in Spanish, Chinese, music and creative movement. Children enjoy participating in plays and music programs. This is another means of developing language skills and a sense of body awareness. In addition, our specialist teachers offer piano, ballet, gymnastics, tap and character dancing as enrichment activities.

Early Impressions guides students in developing good socialization skills that are so important during all stages of life. Early Impressions was one of the first schools in the area to implement the Character Counts curriculum. This has been a popular and successful teaching tool to develop strong social and character skills in our young children.

Physical education is also an intricate part of Early Impressions' curriculum. Fulfilling your child's recreational needs is why we have located our school on six acres of land that include tennis courts, an in-ground swimming pool, picnic areas, nature and science trails, sports fields, an outdoor theater, and ergonomic playgrounds. A science lesson may include a walk around the grounds observing changes in nature and discussing what your child sees.

Early Impressions is non-denominational and non-discriminatory. Early Impressions admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, grants them equal rights and privileges, and offers them the opportunity to participate in all available programs and activities. Children enjoy traditional celebrations of religious, ethnic and national holidays.
