SUMMER CAMP ACTIVITIES
Our philosophy is to allow all campers a chance to shine by offering them many diverse activities. There is no one single focus, but instead, a balance between athletics, nature, creative and dramatic arts that encourages children to grow at their own pace. We believe in letting kids just be "kids".
Swimming
At Summer Impressions campers use our swimming facilities daily. Our rectangular, heated in-ground swimming pool, ranging in depth from 2½ to 4½ feet, allows our certified water safety instructors to teach beginning through advanced swimmers.
The swimming pool is completely enclosed and lifeguards are on duty continuously. All campers receive instructional and free swim daily. Instructors and counselors participate in swimming activities to give additional guidance and supervision to their campers. Campers must be 4 years old by June 1st to use the in-ground pool or to participate in private swim lessons. Our younger campers will enjoy water sports through sprinkler fun, water-tables and cool wet games.
Field Sports
Our sports program is directed and taught by a specialty sports instructor. All campers are taught sportsmanship, safety and game skills, as well as the cooperative spirit of competition and fair play. Campers participate in a variety of age appropriate sports including basketball, softball, field hockey, soccer, volleyball and Ga-Ga.
Of special interest to our 4 to 8 year old campers is our junior tennis program. An instructor teaches this fun program on our specially designed tennis courts. Campers must be 4 years old by June 1st to participate in private tennis lessons.
Arts & Crafts
Our crafts program includes all the traditional camp favorites such as tye-dying, paper maché, tile mosaics, lanyards, clay, woodworking, jewelry making, plus ample opportunities for self-expression and creativity.
Nature & Science
Our campers gain an appreciation for their environment and outdoor living skills as they learn about nature, wildlife and history. Many of the craft projects are theme and nature related. Campers will enjoy the world of science as they explore our nature trail and grassy areas, as well as doing numerous experiments and activities in our science centers.
Creative Dramatics
Our highly skilled staff brings to life the exciting world of performing arts. Campers learn acting techniques through improvisation, mime, puppetry, role-playing, pageants and skits. Incorporated into all these events are special musical activities. Of course, camp would not be complete without the rousing singing of camp songs! Many creative dramatics are performed on our outdoor stage.
